Dear Friends,
Tomorrow is Walk Against Warming. By the end of this month, the Federal Government will have decided Australia's greenhouse emissions target.
It's up to you and I to make sure that target doesn't sign off on the destruction of our national icons such as the Great Barrier Reef and the World Heritage Kakadu Wetlands as well as impacting on the lives of ordinary people all around the world through drought, bushfire and extreme weather events.
The fossil fuel lobby have been hammering on Canberra's doors, and now it's time for the community to hammer their feet on the streets right across Australia to show the government that we support urgent action on climate change, targets that will guarantee the protection of our natural icons and international leadership that protects the world's most vulnerable people.
At 11am tomorrow, bring your family, friends and colleagues for a fun, family friendly walk from Martin Place to Hyde Park and hear from a scientist, a pacific neighbour, a community campaigner, a young person and an ex-coal miner about positive solutions to the climate crisis.
You can make a difference, this weekend and by forwarding this message to your networks.
See you there,
Erland and the whole volunteer Walk Against Warming team.
PS. If you can help out on the day, there's still time to let us know. Email climatevolunteer@nccnsw.org.au or call (02) 9279 2466.
