A big week...
Dear CCBR Supporters,
Tomorrow Ross Garnaut will be delivering his report* to the Federal Government.
It is expected that he will be recommending targets of around 10% reductions by 2020.
Get involved with one or all of this week's events to send a clear message to the government that we are aware of what is required and that these targets are nowhere near enough....
Tuesday Sept 30. GetUp torch Relay - 12.30 Milson's Point....
On Tuesday GetUp will gather to create a huge human solar panel next to Sydney Harbour. The message is clear: 'Renew Our Future' and create strong green industries to power our economy in the 21st century.

There are also events in Marrickville on the morning of September 30th, Manly and Mosman on the October 1st.

Tuesday Sept 30. Sand-bagging Circular Quay - 5pm....
Come and join us when the "Climate Emergency Team" sand-bags Circular Quay! This action is fun, legal and getting the message out there! Just bring along your passion to save the planet and we'll get you working!

Meeting at Custom's House forecourt at 4.45. Sandbagging from 5 - 6pm.

Thursday Oct 2. Climate Emergency Protest - 5pm CBD....
Thursday Oct 2 is the Climate Emergency Protest 5 - 6pm. Macquarie Place (near Circular Quay)
Speakers include: Lee Rhiannon, Graeme Brown, George Woods, Bev Smiles and Tim Dudley
We'll be marching up to Farrer Place to send a message to government that we need immediate and decisive action on Climate Change. This protest has been organised by a collaboration of Climate Action Groups (incl.CCBR) together with student and social justice organisations.

*For your information the time table is this:
The Garnaut Review is to be released 30.9.08. Government will then consider this and responses to the "Green Paper" before formulating the "White Paper" which is due to be released early December (date to be advised). Theis "White Paper" is the Australia's blueprint for reducing Green House Gas emissions. It is worth noting that at the same time government will be releasing 'Draft Exposure Legislation' that are new laws to support the new ETS.
Early December is also when Australia will be participating in the UNFCC talks in Poznan, Poland. (held in Bali last year) The process in building an international roadmap on response to Climate Change (next year in Copenhagen).
