Newsflash – July 19, 2008
If you are in town (Sydney) today you can participate in a "flashmob"
A flashmob is a seemingly spontaneous, new way, in busy spaces, to get your message across.
This action has been communicated through facebook but you don't need to be on facebook to participate. facebook link
Here's the plan: Feel free to come with banners/flyers/t-shirts etc.
The message is "Freeze Emissions Growth" and "500 days till Copenagen".
We want to show the world that we don't have much time!
Meet at Martin Place, outside the Channel 7 building, at 12:30pm and mill around.
At 12:45, face up the hill and freeze, whispering "tick tock tick tock" under your breath.
At 12:50, head off in different directions.
Follow up:
Climate Camp Newcastle
Contrary to what you may have seen on the media, the event was a very peaceful and a wonderful thing with professionally run, informative, workshops. Over a 1,000 people from all walks of life coming together on Sunday to march peacefully for a transition away from coal.
For a terrific short description of last weekend's Climate Camp - check out Sharyn Munro's blog. For more see also "Australian Climate Camp"
